Tuesday Tantrum- Reunion

There are few things in life that have made us quite as upset as the cancellation of the television show Reunion. This is still a source of great ire for us, which is why it deserves its own blog. We are used to shows getting cancelled. We have watched many good shows that fell into the pits of television despair and were cancelled. However, nothing was a greater source of anger than the cancellation of Reunion. Here are the reasons this is the one of the biggest and most anger-making cancellations EVER!!!

1. This show had Sean Faris on it. I love Sean Faris and it stinks that this show got cancelled because he was on it. Side note: Sean Faris doesn't have good luck with TV shows. He had a starring role on another show that got quickly cancelled (Life as We Know It). Maybe he's a jinx, but I like him!

2. Reunion was a good show. I have watched a lot of shows that were just ok and maybe if I went back and watched Reunion (which I can't because it has never come out on DVD or anything to my knowledge) I wouldn't think it was the greatest show either. The characters were good and well developed considering the type of show it was. The relationships were complex enough to keep you interested but not so complex that you didn't know what was going on, again, a point of kudos considering the premise and outlay of the show. It had lots of drama, but it also had some moments of humor and definitely a lot of suspense and intrigue.

3. Reunion had a good premise and a design that should have carried it through a season. I never thought Reunion would last after one season. It wasn't designed that way, in my opinion. It should have only ever had a one season run. It didn't even get a one season run though!!! The premise was that within a group of six friends, one person was dead and one of the others killed said person. We slowly received clues as to who was dead and who was the killer. At the end of the season, the mystery should have come to a conclusion and we would have said goodbye to these characters. The show could have possibly had another season, but I don't think it should have. However, because reunion was cancelled in the middle of the season, we only knew who was dead and never found out who killed them. UGH!!!

4. Reunion was different. Reunion started with the six friends graduating from high school. Flash forward 20 years to their high school reunion. Flash back to graduation day. It may seem confusing, but it wasn't really. Each episode took place over the course of one particular day each year after they graduated with flash forwards to the present as the police tried to solve the mystery of who killed one of the friends. For several weeks, we learned who wasn't dead because they would be questioned or some such as that. Then, we finally learned who was dead. There is not another show on that I am aware of in which each episode tells a different story of a different day of a different year to provide clues to the overarching story line.

5. We never found out who killed Sam. Yeah so sue me (just kidding don't). I didn't say spoiler alert. You can't watch it anyway and you too will never find out who killed her so now you can be mad like us. This is the biggest source of our distress. The show was cancelled before we ever found out who the killer was. They just left us hanging like an unslapped high five. I did read somewhere that *spoiler alert* Sam and Will's daughter who was actually being raised by Lexie Grey, um I mean Carla, was the one who killed her mom. That would have been pretty stupid in my opinion. I guess the tagline technically was “In 1986 they were best of friends. By 2005, one will be murdered. All will be suspects." but we were lead to believe one of them was actually the killer... not just a suspect. Either way, be it the daughter or be it Craig, or Will, or Carla, or Aaron, or Jenna, we never found out who killed Samantha and that inspires great wrath in us. Also, as you know, there were no DVDs with unaired episodes or anything to tell the rest of the story. Apparently, when it got cancelled, the writers threw up their hands and quit, or the actors, or the producers, or the directors. No matter what, we never got what we wanted.
